Memorial Garden
The Apex UMC Memorial Garden represents five years of planning by trustees, clergy, staff, laity, professional designers, and architects. It includes a prayer labyrinth, memorial wall, and columbarium. “Columbarium” derives from the Latin word columba, the dwelling place of a dove. The ashes of first-century Christians were buried in cliff-side niches. Today’s columbaria continue that legacy, offering a widely-accepted option to burial. The Columbarium offers an eternal resting place and a reminder that, in Christ, even death cannot separate us. A memorial wall will provide space to honor loved ones interred elsewhere. Since the thirteenth century, prayer labyrinths have provided sacred walking paths and places of worship and prayer. Our labyrinth is created in memory of Rev. Glenn Mason, beloved Pastor of Spiritual Formation.
