Serving Our Neighbors

NeighborUp (formerly Western Wake Crisis Ministry)

NeighborUp was created in 2025 with the merge of Western Wake Crisis Ministry in Apex and Dorcas Ministries in Cary, with locations in Apex and Cary. NeighborUp provides financial and food assistance to Apex, New Hill, Friendship, Holly Springs, Willow Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Cary and Morrisville residents. Information, advocacy and referral assistance is also available. NeighborUp is supported by financial and food pantry donations as well as proceeds from the Dorcas Thrift Shop, their own thrift shop, located in Cary. More Information on NeighborUp can be found at https://neighborup.org/.
Food Donations: The NeighborUp Apex food pantry serves approximately 450 families per month, so food is always needed. Apex UMC supports the pantry with donations of non-perishable food, cleaning and hygiene items. AUMC collection of these items is done weekly. A list of the pantry’s most needed items can be found in the weekly Crosspoints newsletter announcements and the monthly announcement sheet. You can drop off donations in the NeighborUp bins located outside by the Discipleship Center in the Crossroads circle.

Dorcas Thrift Shop donations: The Dorcas Thrift store will take donations of clothing and many household items. Donations must be in good condition and dropped off at the Dorcas Thrift Shop. Visit https://neighborup.org/how-we-help/shop/ for a list of acceptable donations, the donation drop-off location and times.

Become a Volunteer: Volunteers provide much needed help at both NeighborUp Apex and Cary locations and at the Dorcas Thrift Shop. For more information on volunteering opportunities or to apply to volunteer, visit the NeighborUp website at https://neighborup.org/get-involved/volunteer/ .
