  • Apex Outreach Service Project
    On Sunday, July 20, we commissioned the participants of AOSP. Our teams are hard at work this week, helping those in need in our local community. Please keep these youth and adult leaders in your prayers as they serve as the hands and feet of God!
  • Adult Appalachia Service Project:
    Our fall mission to Jonesville, Va., is scheduled for Oct. 23-25. Sign up online. The non-refundable $180 fee, which covers ASP donation, meals, lodging and transportation, is due at registration. Deadline is Aug. 15.   • Adventure Kids Training:
    This year's theme is ASCEND: the motion of moving upward while using specific tools to climb to greater heights. Join us on Sunday, Aug. 17, from 5:30-7 p.m. in the CLC gym and help make a difference at Apex like never before. Both childcare and dinner will be provided upon registration.   • Save the Date - Fall Kickoff!

  • Financial Update:
    The financial results through May 2014 have been positive for our Family of Faith Communities. Giving has exceeded our budget by $58,008 and expenses spent so far are below budget by $144,184. The first five months of the year, the net result (giving minus expenses) has been better than we planned by $172,192. The finance committee monitors the results monthly. A detailed report can be viewed on page two of this week's Crosspoints.
  • Eat With 8!

  • Apex UMC Summer Hours:
    The church office will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays. These hours will run through Sept. 8.

  • Fiesta Cristiana Office Administrator:
    The Apex Family of Faith Communities is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) office administrator to serve at our Fiesta Cristiana faith community. The ideal applicant is a mature Christian with a passion for hospitality and superior interpersonal, administrative and communication skills. Applicants must be bilingual (Spanish/English), possess a solid grasp of Microsoft Office products and Google apps, as well as the ability to maintain databases and update a website. Applicants should have a desire and ability to work as part of a team but also be a self-starter with the ability to take initiative. A minimum of one year of work experience in an office or similar environment is preferred.   • Apex ReStore Grand Opening:
    Come celebrate the opening of the Apex Habitat for Humanity ReStore. ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Proceeds are used to build homes, community and hope locally and around the world. Grand opening details:

    • Schedule of Events: Blissful Journey will provide energizing hand massages from 9-11 a.m.; a variety of food will be available throughout the day from local businesses including Dunkin Donuts, Sweet Cheeks Bakery and La Rancherita; face painting; entertainment by Totally Otis from 3-5 p.m. KIX 102.9 will broadcase live from 12-2 p.m.; kids games and activities; special savings incentives!
  • Freedom Academy:
    The Place of Possibilities (POP) in Aulander, N.C., is opening a Christ-centered charter school for local children. The school will serve daily meals, and the POP needs to upgrade some appliances. Please consider donating to this great cause.   • Jobs For Life Class in Apex this Fall:
    Open to anyone seeking employment or looking to improve their employment options. Centered on the Bible, the course covers lessons learned from the lives of characters such as Joseph, David and Ruth, the teachings of Jesus' parables, and examples of real world heroes. In addition, the class equips the students with core work readiness skills. Along with the training, every JfL student has a JfL champion - a mentor or a group of mentors - who provides the student support both during the training and once the student is employed. Hosted by Western Wake Crisis Ministry, the next Jobs for Life class will be on Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 29-Nov. 19, from 6-7:30 p.m. in DC 403.
